This 40ft skeleton semi trailer typically features a 500 mm high I-beam main girder made from high-strength steel (top flange ~14–16 mm, web ~8–10 mm, bottom flange ~14–16 mm) to provide torsional rigidity and long service life. It is fitted with 12 container twist locks (to secure both 20ft & 40ft containers), tri-axle configuration using 13T (commonly FUWA/BPW/ZW) axles, and 12 units of 12R22.5 tubeless tyres — delivering the strength needed for heavy container loads.
Typical tare weights range ~5.8–6.6 t depending on spec; rated loading weight or GVWR commonly quoted between 40,000 kg and 50,000 kg (some heavy designs up to ~60,000 kg). Suspension is usually mechanical leaf-spring (10/10/10 packs) or optional air suspension; landing gear rated ~28t; electrical system 24V with 7-pin socket; brakes dual-line (many vendors offer ABS/EBS as options).
